About the Artist
Kendra Walton was born and raised in Sandusky, Ohio. She went to Perkins Public Schools, where she was very active in music and theater. She continued to study theater at The University of Toledo until she decided to take a break from her studies; it was during this time that she discovered just how much she loved drawing. After quite a bit of encouragement from her husband, she quit her job as a sign language interpreter in order to pursue a career in the arts.
She originally returned to The University of Toledo, working towards an Art Education degree, when she felt compelled to transfer to Bowling Green State University's School of Art. It was this decision that led her to some of the finest instructors around. She has had the privilege to work under Charles Kanwischer, Dennis Wojtkiewicz, and Mille Guldbeck, all amazing artists in their own right.
Though not finished with school, so far at BGSU, Kendra has won the Junior Achievement Award Scholarship, as well as winning first place in the drawing category at the Undergraduate Student Exhibition and an Honorable Mention. After graduation, her goal is to take some time off before heading back to school, where she will get her Master of Fine Arts degree, and, upon completion, teach drawing at the University level.
She is married to her best friend and her greatest support system, Randy Walton, and they reside in Northwood, Ohio.
